
Ali Cherri
Ali Cherri is a visual artist and film director. Combining film, video, sculpture and installation, his work explores the mechanisms of production of historical narratives. In 2022, he was the Artist in Residence at the National Gallery in London and participated in the 59th Venice Biennale of Art where he received the Silver Lion Award. His exhibitions include If you prick us, do we not bleed? National Gallery, London, Minds Rising, Spirits Tuning, 13th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea, The Gatekeepers at the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Marseille - Manifesta, Trembling Landscapes at the Eye Film Museum, Amsterdam, But a Storm is Blowing from Paradise at the Guggenheim New York and Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Milan, Somniculus at the Jeu de Paume, Paris and CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain Bordeaux. The Dam, his first feature film shot in Sudan, was presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
